My Animal poem

This week we read about endangered animals and made a poem about an endangered animals.

The Zoo

The zebras hop along the dry and prickly patch of grass while the
patternless white rhino grazes on the grass. The giraffe was camouflaged with  grass from head to tail. The Sri lankan elephants stumbled slowly across their enclosure.

The huge Galapagos tortoises lay stone still while people stared into their shell. They were both equally muddy and their long necks stuck out of their heads. They had the whole enclosure to themselves but they would only use a little bit. Their huge  powerful jaws snapped as the ate the leaves.

While we we wondering around the zoo, I couldn't hold it anymore, “Can we go see the penguins?” I pleaded. We followed  the map but were we going the right way? Hmmm.

Last Friday the year 4's went on a trip to the Zoo.We wrote a description using D-A-D meaning description, action and dialogue.

Adhvika's wild self

Luna Moth Antennae - How well do you smell? Your luna moth antennae are bushy because they have over 40,000 odor receptors. They help you detect the odors of other moths.

Domestic rabbit ears - Animals like rabbits have to be on the lookout for danger all the time. Your large ears help you listen for trouble.

Grevy's zebra hoofs - Get up and running. Grevy's zebras can stand up just six minutes after being born and can run after just 45 minutes. How long did it take you to learn to walk?

Lion's mane jelly - Imagine having no eyes or brain but still having one of the most sophisticated weapons on earth. Lion's mane jellies have tentacles over 100 feet long, each one packed with tiny harpoons that inject prey with deadly toxins.

Rodrigues bat wings - Your Rodrigues bat wings are very different from bird wings. Bird wings are made like human arm bones. But your bat wings are more like really long fingers. Creepy long fingers!

Lesser bird of paradise feathered tail - Are you ready to boogie? Male birds of paradise use their brightly coloured tail feathers in mating dances to attract females.

This term we have been learning about adaptations of animals. We created a wild self creature.Enjoy looking at my creation.

Beach description

The hot dry sand stays there motionless while the waves crash into it.White fluffy clouds stay in the sky.Big green trees are hanging off the cliff. In the distance there are small and big islands sitting on the horizon. The pitch black hollow cove leads in and back out.Water rolls you into the side of the cave.

The smell of wet sand forces me to wrinkle my nose. All the lush green trees let out a scent of fresh green leaves. The salt water aroma from the ocean spreads across the sand on the beach, Strong smells of sunscreen comes across to noses.

Wet sticky sand gets stuck to feet while they are running across it. Soft gentle breeze drifts across to the other side of the beach.Consistent waves smash between toes to make it tickle.Sea shells prick feet that walk over them. The burning hot rocks radiate to keep warm.

As soon as we hit the beach , jump out of the car…..Splash!!!!!!! I am already in the water hoping to splash about. It always feels so happy when my dad says’’pack your bag .We are going to the beach’’.I love going to the beach to have tons of fun

This week we wrote a description of the beach using what we see, hear and smell.Hope you enjoy. I think I used interesting vocab.
